How to Join

Our Councils' Recruitment Processes

Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) follows the 365-day year-round recruitment model, meaning they do not have a formal recruitment period and instead allow the chapters to recruit members anytime during the year. To assist incoming students find the best fraternity for them, we encourage every person to fill out the IFC Recruitment Form through Campus Director. This form allows the council to notify you of any open events they are hosting throughout the year where you can meet the chapters. The council will also share your information with the chapter Recruitment Chairs so they are able to communicate with you about upcoming recruitment events for their chapter.

Multicultural Greek Council

The process to join an organization under the Multicultural Greek Council is called recruitment or intake. MGC hosts several orientation sessions where students can learn more about the fraternities and sororities that make up the Multicultural Greek Council. They also host "Showcase" which is an all council event for all Texas State students to learn a bit more about the history and personality of MGC organizations. Throughout the first several weeks of school, chapters will also hold their own individual events that students are encouraged to attend.

The best way to stay up to date on when the events are taking place and how to get involved is to fill out their Recruitment Interest Form.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The process to join a National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organization is called the Membership Intake Process (MIP). Each MIP will be held to Texas State University and the national organization's standards, as the process to become a member is handled independently by each chapter. A chapter that is accepting new members will notify the FSL office and post flyers for an Information Session around campus. These flyers will typically be posted 30 days prior to the session taking place. Since each chapter could hold MIP at different times throughout the academic year, we recommend you take the time to fill out our Intake Interest Form. This allows us to gather the necessary information from you and share it with the chapters once they are approved to accept new members.

Panhellenic Council

The Panhellenic Council hosts a formal recruitment process at the beginning of the fall semester. This is the best way for women to join a Panhellenic sorority as all chapters will be participating to take on new members. To stay current on what is happening with this year's Formal Recruitment, register for recruitment through Campus Director.

After the conclusion of Formal Recruitment and in the spring semester, any chapters that still have space within the chapter are eligible to participate in Continuous Open Recruitment (COR). COR is not coordinated by the council but rather by the chapters that are looking for new members.
